Whew, what a busy and fun couple of weeks! It has been so great to have family here visiting with us. Eric's parents left this past Monday, and then my mom arrived on Tuesday (two hours late due to a lack of an airplane pilot - what the heck is that about?). We've had a great visit with her.
I mentioned in my last post that Asher has traditionally been pretty ambivalent (and sometimes downright mean) toward Eric's parents, and the same has been true of the way he treats my mom. He calls her Noni and LOVES talking to her on the phone, but when it comes to seeing her in person, his attitude is basically "get away from me, lady!" However, this visit, he has really enjoyed having her around and playing with her. Hooray for great visits with grandparents!
My mom is usually not a big fan of shopping in general, but this time, she was really up for it, so we had tons of fun hitting the stores and being out and about. She even got to attend one of my OB appointments, which was really nice. We also crammed in as many movies as we could when Asher took naps and went to bed.
Last night was New Year's Eve and we had found out that our community center for our neighborhood was hosting a Hot Air Balloon Glow, where they light the balloons and have them hover close to the ground. It sounded really neat and fun, so we decided to go. After bundling up for the cold, we headed over there, only to find out that they were putting everything away way early due to a supposed wind (even though none of us could feel a hint of breeze!). So basically, we spent more time getting ready than we spent at the "event"! Such a disappointment. We did manage a couple of pictures, however.

This has been a wonderful holiday season, and I can't believe that it has come to a close. It will be strangely quiet around here without any house guests, and we will miss having the family around. Of course, we have something to look forward to coming up in 10 weeks or so, and then everyone will be back! Welcome, 2010!
