A huge negative to living far from family is the total lack of help, especially in terms of babysitters. The last date we had was last November (when Asher was 3 months old), when some friends of ours offered to babysit so we could celebrate our anniversary. We were so grateful and thoroughly enjoyed having a nice dinner out by ourselves, especially since it would be our last one for quite a while (although another friend has offered since, and thank you for that!).
Fortunately, we also have some great neighbors that we have become friends with who offered to babysit, and we quickly decided this was a MUST and made dinner plans as fast as you can say poopy diaper. We went out to dinner and tried to make non-child conversation (fairly successfully I must say) and eat delicious food (definitely a success). We came home to a happy child who apparently had a grand old time playing with the neighbor's son. He's 6 and just adores Asher and is constantly asking if he can hold him. They crawled around on the floor together and cracked each other up.
So there you have it, folks. Two whole dates in one year! Although we would certainly love more alone time, it's okay with us because we just love hanging out with our little hurricane!
The smiling, standing boy!
This boy just loves chewing on things. Can we say oral fixation? But that's a post for another day.
