The day was off to a good start. We were getting ready for the party, and it was smooth sailing. The party was set to start in five minutes. The first mistake was in letting Eric use a knife, as history has shown that this usually leads to disaster (he has been known to slice himself frequently, especially if he's in a hurry). He was slicing something, and as soon as the words, "Be careful" came out of my mouth, blood was spouting from his finger. He quickly wrapped it up but said that he had to go to the ER. I felt like shouting a slow motion, hollywood style "Noooooooooooo!" But we have a birthday party, and you have to go get stitches? Again, NOOOOOOOO!
Fortunately, Eric's parents were visiting us, and his mom took him to the hospital while his dad manned the grill in Eric's place. Unfortunately, this left me on my own with no help while attending to guests. However, we have fabulous friends and neighbors who all stepped in to help me with the little guy.
The good news: Eric was back home after an hour and a half and was able to be there for cake and presents! It turned out to be a fun party despite the drama.

Ha ha. Guess I should have checked the blog before going to Myspace! Happy birthday little guy! I know I've never met him in person, but it is clear to see that you have such a sweet little boy! It's amazing to think of the changes that have occurred since you brought this little lump of a baby home from the hospital, isn't it? He's learned so much already and this next year will be even more exciting! Love to you all!
