Vacation Celebration

Eric took off this week from work - his first since he started 6 months ago! That may not seem to be that long of a time, but trust me, it's been more than long enough! This was a celebration of the fact that he has worked 6 agonizing months of being on call 24/7 nearly all the time, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, and he SURVIVED to tell about it! 6 months of waiting for someone else to join him to help ease the burden. And last week, our prayers were answered when a co-worker started!

To celebrate Eric's vacation, we decided to head north to Flagstaff for a couple days. We almost talked ourselves out of it a few times, but eventually we decided, what the heck, let's just DO it! And I'm so glad we did.

We stayed at a hotel that was, thus far, the best experience I've had in a hotel with two kids. The room was gigantic! It had a little sitting area with a pullout couch, which was perfect because Ava could sleep there (surrounded by pillows, and eventually me!) and Asher and Eric could share the king bed, and because the room was big enough, it kept the kids enough apart so that they could actually not goof around with each other and go to sleep (usually the toughest thing about a small hotel room!).

And the scenery around the hotel itself was just beautiful!

Another one of the best parts? A playground! Ava, being her curious self, had to explore the ground pronto.

I even managed to get Asher to pose in front of a pine tree for me!

The rest of this week has been filled with Eric golfing, a doctor's appointment for Asher (that needs its own post), and tomorrow, we're doing some shopping and having my brother and sister-in-law over for dinner. And, of course, this weekend is Easter!

I think it's safe to call this vacation a success! And in just a few weeks, we're heading out to San Diego to visit our besties!!
